Matilda Ibini is a playwright and screenwriter from London. She graduated from London Metropolitan University with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing in 2013. She has had poetry published in anthologies by United Press. Her plays have been shortlisted and longlisted for awards such as the Soho Young Writers Award, Verity Bargate and Alfred Fagon Award.

She was a member of the Royal Court Writers Program 2012/13 and is a member of Soho Theatre's Writer's Alumni Group. She was Soho Theatre's writer-in-residence for the BBC Writersroom 10 scheme 2014/15. She is currently Graeae Theatre's Artist-in-Residence 2017/18. Her debut play 'Muscovado' produced by BurntOut Theatre, premiered in October 2014 toured the UK in 2015 and subsequently co-won the Alfred Fagon Audience Award in 2015.

Matilda was awarded a BAFTA and Warner Bros scholarship to do a Masters in Playwriting and Screenwriting at City University.
